Why Cornwall Is More Than a Beautiful Location for NLP Training

Cornwall is a stunning place to learn NLP. The sea air, the coastline, the slower pace - it does something to people.
But the real reason we run our in-person NLP Practitioner training here isn't just because it's beautiful.
It's because Cornwall creates the conditions for deeper learning, stronger relationships, and the kind of restorative space that many coaches, therapists, leaders and helpers rarely give themselves.
If you're joining us for NLP By The Sea from 10th-16th May, or you're considering the next Cornwall week (20th- 26th September), here's what makes this experience so different.
NLP Training In Cornwall with Laura Evans

It's a retreat-style Practitioner course (without losing the rigour)

Yes, you're here to become a skilled NLP Practitioner.
You'll learn the tools, practise the skills, and leave with a level of confidence that only comes from doing the work properly (not just understanding it intellectually).
And alongside the training, we've intentionally created a 'retreat-style' environment.
Not because we're trying to turn it into a holiday (we have fun and work hard on our courses to give you the maximum value and experience as you become an NLP Professional).
Because when people are well-rested, regulated, and supported, they learn faster - and they integrate what they're learning at a deeper level.

Why we offer wellbeing activities during the Cornwall week

During our Cornwall Practitioner week, we offer optional wellbeing activities such as:
  • Sea swims / Cold Water Dipping
  • Qi-Gong
  • Breathwork
  • Havening
People ask why we include these.
There are two reasons.

1) To enhance your experience and give you restorative time

NLP training is practical and immersive. You're learning new distinctions, practising new skills, and stretching your comfort zone - in the best possible way.
Having the option to reset your nervous system, breathe, move, or get in the sea can make the whole week feel more spacious and grounded.
It helps you come back into the training room clearer, calmer, and more present.

2) Because self-care matters for every coach and therapist

Many of our delegates are the people others rely on: coaches, therapists, leaders, HR professionals, trainers, parents, helpers.
And one of the most important professional skills you can develop is the ability to take care of yourself.
So we're not just offering wellbeing activities as extras. We're modelling something we believe in:
  • You can't pour from an empty cup
  • Your state affects your results
  • Sustainable success requires recovery, not just effort
We want you to leave Cornwall not only with NLP tools. but with practical ways to regulate, restore and reset that you can take back into your everyday life.

The magic of in-person training: relationships, rapport, and real support networks

There's something you simply can't replicate online.
When you train in person, you spend a full week learning together, practising together, laughing together, and having the kind of conversations that turns a group of delegates into a support network.
That's why we also include optional social activities like:
  • A coastal walk
  • A pizza evening
  • A trip to Porthleven Harbour for fish and chips (as long as the sun is out!)
There's no pressure to take part and we're very clear about that.
But what we've found is that many people choose to join in, because it makes the week feel connected, human, and genuinely supportive.
And those relationships often last.
I saw this today: one student who trained in person congratulated another delegate she trained with and they did their Practitioner together eight years ago.
That's the power of being in the room.

You can't beat learning NLP in the room (here's why)

Online training can be brilliant and for many people it's the right choice.
It's convenient, there's no travel or accommodation cost, and it allows you to keep up with caring responsibilities and personal commitments.
But when it comes to learning NLP specifically, in-person training has some unique advantages.

1) You build rapport faster (and practise it more naturally)

Rapport is not a theory in NLP, it's a skill.
In person, you're constantly calibrating, noticing micro-shifts, and learning to respond in real time.
It's easier to pick up the subtleties that make the difference between - doing a technique and becoming a practitioner.

2) Practice is deeper when you're fully immersed

When you're away from everyday life, you're not switching between "training mode" and "home mode".
You're immersed.
That immersion creates momentum and it helps the learning stick.

3) Friendships and support networks tend to last longer

This is one of the biggest differences we see.
Online groups can absolutely bond  and many do.
But the in-person groups often form friendships that continue long after the course ends.
I did my Practitioner Training in person well over a decade ago, and I'm still in contact with one or two of the people I trained with.
That kind of professional friendship is invaluable - especially if you're building a coaching or therapy practice, or you're the person in your organisation driving change.

Cornwall supports learning in a way that feels human

One of the simplest (and most underrated) benefits of Cornwall is this:
You get outside.
Yes, it's weather dependent, but we're lucky.
The Castle Beach Cafe is right in front of the hotel on the beach with a seating area, so we can be close to the waves while still protected from the elements.
Whether it's breakfast, a cuppa, or lunch, it's a reminder that you can learn something life-changing and still have space to breathe.
And that's why Cornwall is more than a beautiful location.
It's part of the learning.

Choosing the right option for you (Cornwall or online)

I'll always encourage you to choose the training option that fits your life.
If online is the right fit, our next Online NLP Practitioner training runs on:
  • 5th-7th June and 26th-29th June
(You can find details and book here: Online NLP Practitioner)
And if you want the full retreat-style, immersive experience, NLP By The Sea next runs:

(You can find details and book here: NLP Practitioner Cornwall)

If you're considering Cornwall and you have questions about travel, accommodation, or whether it's right for you, just get in touch - we'll help you figure it out.

Final thought: it's not just where you train - it's what the environment makes possible

Cornwall gives people permission to slow down enough to learn properly.
To practise.
To connect.
To restore.
And to leave not only with an internationally recognised NLP Practitioner certification, but with a stronger sense of who they are, what they're capable of, and a support network that often lasts for years.
If that's the kind of training experience you're looking for, Cornwall might be exactly what you need.

How HR and L&D Professionals Use NLP to Improve Behaviour Change
